2011 SMU-York Doctoral Consortium

In the summer of 2011, York University’s PhD in Human Resources Management program collaborated with Sobey PhD Management, St Mary’s University, Halifax, for the inaugural Critical Management Doctoral Consortium.  Hosted by Saint Mary’s University, the consortium was geared towards PhD students who were able to engage in stimulating discussions pertaining to key critical management issues.  During the three day consortium, PhD students were given the opportunity to exchange their ideas both formally and informally through various workshops, student presentations and social gatherings.

Noted scholars, Dr. Anshu Prasad and Dr. Pushi Prasad were the consortium’s Keynote Speakers and they introduced the PhD students to the emerging field of postcolonial organization studies.

An enjoyable time was had by PhD students and faculty alike.  In particular, students were left feeling enriched, more knowledgeable and exposed to a range of new ideas and people.  Future plans involve a continuation of the synergy created between both schools in the form of a yearly doctoral consortium.
